Blogging needs every bit of your concentration, enthusiasm, dedication and time. Lots of time. No one said running a successful and popular blog is easy, in fact it can be pretty overwhelming at times, yet worth every single effort you make. Since there is no single formula to write a great blog, nor is there a right or wrong way about blogging, you will learn along the way and from every mistake that you make.

#1 – Practice. Practice. More Practice. And some more! The only way you can get on the path of writing a better blog is to, well, write one. Adapt better practices as you move ahead and you will soon realize that when you do that you will see a marked improvement in the blog quality. A hobby that has the potential to become a full-time profession needs a lot of attention and nurturing. Get committed to the cause and your hobby will soon become a money spinner for you.

It really does not matter if you have just started off or have been at it for some time now, the moment you get serious about blogging, you have already come one step closer to becoming a better blogger. All great, blockbuster ideas and success stories begin with a list and that’s exactly what you need to do right now.

#2 – Focus on the target audience: It is extremely important to know who the target audience is for your blog as your ideal reader will become your guide. Ask yourself if you are solving your readers’ problems or providing solutions to their problems.

#3 – Understand your USP: Is there anything about your blog that makes it unique? Is there an x-factor that makes you an exceptional blogger? If the answer to both the questions is no, get cracking instantly. Figuring out the reason for your blogging is most often the most important step towards realization.

#4 – Easy-to-read posts: Bloggers who use a conversational style, one who talks to the reader and interacts, are often the most effective and popular bloggers. Using bullets and lists are great ways of making it easy for readers and so are short and simple sentences. Long-winded and preachy sentences are a complete no-no, so learn to KISS-Keep It Short & Simple!

#5 – Invest in yourself: Blogging is a dynamic and continuously evolving field and you need to be at the top of your game to rule it. Make sure your education never stops and keep learning about the latest developments and trends.

#6 – Find a Buddy: It is a fabulous idea to join hands (literally) with a blog buddy to give a new fillip to your blogging career, and your partners’ too. A partner/buddy will bring in fresh new ideas and it is a brilliant way to bounce your ideas off someone before presenting it to the world. And it also helps you to grow faster… together!

  1. As usual Vikram, you elucidate your thoughts so well! Very concise and clear pointers for us to follow! Cheers buddy!

  2. Great post. Useful and implementable advice.
I have been looking for some new blogs since a while and I was amazed to see how some people did so well for a couple of years and then just vanished. I mean why! They could have found great success if they continued posting. It doesn’t take much effort… to post at least once a week. Does it?

I think what a lot of us lack in is the inspiration. The will to do it sometimes faces a big setback. Posts like yours will help. Great job!
